Sriram Sundararajan is not a typical fund manager. In addition to being the Managing Partner of HyperGrowthLabs Capital, he’s also a full-time Professor of Venture Capital and Marketing at Santa Clara University. He’s found a way to blend investing with education, mentorship, and ecosystem building, all while managing his first fund.
Sriram’s journey into venture capital was a roundabout one. After years as a management consultant and angel investor, he completed the VC Lab program in 2021. That experience helped him refine his investing thesis and inspired a broader mission: to share what he had learned and help the next generation of investors and founders. As an extension of that mission, he started teaching venture capital at Santa Clara University, and most recently, he has built out a new venture capital certificate program.
For Sriram, venture capital is about more than financial returns. It’s about multiplying impact through intentional mentorship, community building, and knowledge sharing.
From Advisory Roots to Institutional Capital
HyperGrowthLabs began as an advisory firm. It has since grown into a venture platform that includes HyperGrowthLabs Capital, a fund that “seeds the future” and writes the first institutional check for founders building in SaaS, medtech, and emerging spaces like Industry 5.0, DefenseTech, and Deep Tech.
They take a hands-on approach with founders, tapping into a global network of Silicon Valley executives to offer tailored guidance across strategy, operations, and scaling.
When it came time to launch Fund I, Sriram knew he needed a proven back office partner that would help him manage costs, stay flexible, and prove that he could deliver value early. Sydecar’s Fund+ made this possible without a heavy administrative lift or bloated fees.

In the process, mentoring emerging founders and fund managers also sharpens his own investing lens, giving him deeper insight into identifying promising startups early and supporting them through critical inflection points.
Sriram views his work with students, founders, and emerging fund managers as interconnected. The success of one fuels the success of many. His long-term vision for HyperGrowthLabs is to build a "living fund" that welcomes new managers and continues paying it forward for decades to come.
